💔 Delete your Romeo & Juliet account

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, photos, voice answer, matches, messages, likes, verification data and sign-in from our servers — except what a safety report needs (see What we keep). This cannot be undone.

Option 1 — in the app (instant)

Settings → Delete account (the button at the bottom, under Log out) → confirm. Your profile, photos, matches, conversations, phone number and sign-in are removed straight away, and your account cannot be recovered. If a report about you from another member is still being reviewed, your photos, your voice answer and your chats with the people who reported you are held for that review first. A few other things deliberately survive too — see What we keep below.

Lost your phone? Install the app on any phone, sign in again with the same phone number (we text you a code) or the same Google account, and delete the account there.

Option 2 — by email

If you can no longer get into the app, email romeoandjulietdating@gmail.com from the email address on your account — the Google address you sign in with. We check that it matches the account, delete the account within 30 days, and reply to confirm.

A phone number written in an email is not proof — anyone can type someone else’s number — so we cannot delete an account on that alone. If your account has no email address (you sign in with your phone number), sign in with that number as in Option 1 and delete the account in the app.

Delete some of your data, without closing your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove things. Inside the app you can do all of this yourself, straight away:

  • Photos — Profile → Edit profile → remove any photo. It leaves your profile at once, and the file is deleted from our storage within minutes (we can still recover it for 7 days, then it is gone). If a report about you from another member is still being reviewed, or a report points at that photo, the file is kept until your account is deleted.
  • Your voice answer — Edit profile → Voice answer → Remove voice answer (or record a new one). The old recording is deleted from our storage within minutes (we can still recover it for 7 days, then it is gone). If a report about you from another member is still being reviewed, or a report points at the recording, it is kept while that report needs it.
  • Your note — in Chats, tap your note → Delete note, or turn off Notes in Settings → Privacy. A note shows for 24 hours, and our servers remove it within a day after that anyway.
  • Your bio, prompts and interests — edit or clear them at any time.
  • A message — press and hold it → Unsend. It is deleted for both of you, with its photo or voice message.
  • Conversations — unmatch someone and the conversation is deleted for both of you (messages quoted in a safety report are kept — see What we keep). Delete conversation in Chat info only clears it from your phone.
  • People you blocked with Block contacts — Settings → Block contacts → Blocked → tap Blocked next to someone and confirm. Their fingerprint is deleted, and so is the record that kept your two accounts apart (unless they blocked you with Block contacts too). Your contact list itself never leaves your phone; Forget imported contacts (in the page’s menu) clears it from the app.
  • Your location — Settings → Privacy → turn off Show distance. Your coordinates and your city are removed from the profile other people can read, not merely hidden.
  • Your last-active time — Settings → Privacy → Active Status → turn off Show online status. We stop recording it, and other members no longer see when you were last active (the last time already recorded is not deleted).
  • Your orientation — Settings → Privacy → turn off Show my orientation on my profile, and it is removed from the profile other people can read.
  • What we learned from your swipes, if you turned on Learn from my swipes — Discovery → turn off Learn from my swipes: it stops, and what was learned is deleted. Turning it on again starts from nothing.
  • Usage statistics — Settings → Privacy → turn off Share usage statistics. Collection stops and what Analytics kept on your phone is cleared; statistics already sent are kept in Google Analytics in detail for 2 months for individual events; 14 months for user-level data, counted from your last activity, and as totals in its reports after that, never with your name or account.

For anything else — for example your verification selfie and ID, which you cannot remove yourself (we delete those photos anyway 30 days after we decide on your verification) — email romeoandjulietdating@gmail.com from the email address on your account, saying what you want removed. We delete just those items within 30 days. Your account stays open. If your account has no email address, we will ask you to confirm the request from inside the app first (for example by posting, as your Note, a short code we send you).

What we keep, and why

Deleting your account does not erase every trace of you from other people’s accounts, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise:

  • If a report about you is still being reviewed. If you delete your account while a report about you from another member is still being reviewed, we delete your sign-in, your profile and everything else at once, but keep your profile photos and voice answer, and your chats with the people who reported you (every message, photo and voice note in them, from both of you). They are never shown to other members — only our review team sees them, for that review. They are kept until every report about you is decided, at most 180 days, and then deleted.
  • Safety reports. Reports about you, or made by you, are kept as a safety record until we decide on them and for 12 months after that, even after either account is deleted; then they are deleted within a week. A report is kept longer only while another report about the same person is still being reviewed, or while the evidence of their deleted account is held for one. We cannot run a safe service if deleting an account erased the reports against it. A report about someone you matched with includes up to 14 of that conversation’s messages (the most recent ones, or those leading up to the message reported) — their text, from both people, with who wrote each one and when (a photo appears as a note that one was sent, with its caption if it had one; voice messages and calls appear only as a note; no files are copied). A report about someone who liked the reporter with a comment includes that comment. A report also keeps a copy of what the reported profile showed when it was filed: the bio, prompt answers, job, company and school, the note on show, and the voice answer’s question with a link to the recording. All of this is kept with the report, whether you made it or were reported.
  • A ban record. If a banned account is deleted, its sign-in and profile are deleted like any other account’s, but we keep a scrambled fingerprint of its phone number and sign-in email — made with a secret key, so the number or email cannot be read back from it — so a new account made with the same number or email is banned too. The reports about it are kept like every other report (see Safety reports above). The fingerprint is deleted if the ban is lifted on appeal.
  • Profile views you made. When you open someone’s profile, a view is recorded on their account. After you delete yours, it stays on their “Profile views” count until they delete their account, as your account’s internal ID and the time — nothing else about you.
  • Other people’s own lists. If someone passed on you, dismissed your like, unmatched you or blocked you, that stays on their account until they delete it (a block also goes if they unblock you), so you are not shown to them again — as your account’s internal ID and a time, nothing else about you.
  • Other people’s Block contacts. If someone blocked your phone number or email with Block contacts, the scrambled fingerprint our server made of it for them (with a secret key, so it cannot be read back) stays with their account until they unblock you or delete their account, so a new account you make with the same number or email is kept apart from them again. The record that kept your two accounts apart is deleted with yours.
  • Match in person. If you scanned someone’s code, their record keeps a one-way tag made from your account’s internal ID (it can be matched against that ID, but not read back) until they next open My code or delete their account. Your own codes, and the list of people you liked by scanning, are deleted with your account.
  • Super Like and verification alerts. If you Super Liked someone, or asked a match to get verified, their notification records keep a short code made from your account’s internal ID (it cannot be read back, though it can be matched against that ID), so the same person does not set off that alert again. It stays until they delete their account, or until newer ones replace it (after 50 newer Super Likes, or 100 newer requests to get verified).
  • Why you left, if you tell us while deleting. We keep the answer, and anything you wrote with it, without your name or account.
  • Deck-ordering data on other accounts. When the “people who liked who you liked” ordering is switched on, other members’ ordering data can name your account until it is next rebuilt, within a day. It is never shown to anyone.
  • A deletion record. For 30 days we keep a note that the account was deleted — its internal ID only, nothing about you — so a phone still signed in to it somewhere else cannot bring it back.
  • Backups and deleted files, for 7 days. For 7 days after something of yours is deleted — your account, or what was held for a review — the database’s daily backups still hold it, and deleted files (photos, voice recordings, verification photos) can still be recovered by us. After that they are gone.
  • Our servers’ technical logs can contain your account’s internal ID for 30 days.
  • Emails with us. If you email us a request, we keep that email for 3 years after we answer the request.
  • What a match kept. Photos you sent that a match saved to their phone, shared or screenshotted are outside our reach.

If you want any of the above removed as well, email us and say so — see Option 2 — and we will tell you what we can remove.

What is deleted

  • Profile (name, age, bio, interests, prompts, photos, voice answer, note)
  • Matches, conversations, sent photos and voice messages, and question-game answers (except what a safety report needs — see What we keep)
  • Likes you sent, with any comments, and the copy on the other person’s Likes page (a moment later, by a background step); likes other people sent you
  • Passes and blocks
  • The people you blocked with Block contacts (their fingerprints), and the records that kept your account apart from anyone
  • Your Match-in-person codes (their fingerprints) and the list of people you liked by scanning
  • Phone number, email, date of birth, location and push tokens (only one-way fingerprints can stay: a banned account’s, and those our server made for other people’s Block contacts — see What we keep)
  • Verification submissions (your selfie and ID photos), and the record of which of your photos were checked for your badge
  • What we learned from your swipes, your discovery settings, your pause timer, and the notification, reminder and search records kept for your account
  • Warnings and photo-removal notices

The app is free and has nothing to buy, so we hold no payment or purchase records.
